Outside Workers - Preparing for Severe Thunder Storms
Wednesday, 23 November 2005 22:27

As summer approaches, film crews, outdoor events promoters and sports personnel are reminded to review their plans for responding to severe storms.

The best advice to outdoor workers is to fully prepare for weather extremes and have appropriate escape routes and protection areas available, pre planned in the emergency response program.  There will need to be an effective means of monitoring the weather, both through weather bulletins and personal observations, and personnel should be given information in advance as to best practice precautions.

Employers and Principal contractors will need to ensure there is a system in place to prepare for such events, and that they are considered and controlled in a risk assessment.
