Major changes to Licensing in NSW take effect from 01 September 2006.
These changes include: Construction Induction "Green Cards" From 2 September, NSW employers will no longer be able to accept the old 'green card' or pre-29 March 2004 training certificates as proof of construction induction training. All holders of green cards and pre-29 March 2004 training certificates must undergo construction induction retraining with a WorkCover accredited trainer to obtain the new Construction Induction Certificate. The training must be completed by 1 September 2006.National Certificates of Competency Anyone who holds a NSW Certificate of Competency to operate equipment (eg cranes, forklift, front-end loader, pressure equipment, rigging or erect scaffolding) issued before 1997, needs to convert to a National Certificate of Competency. From 2 September 2006, NSW Certificates of Competency can no longer be converted. From this date holders of NCOCs will need to apply for a new NCOC and undergo reassessment. Powderman Certificate Holders The transitional provisions of the Explosives Regulation 2005 cease to have effect on 01 September 2006. From this date, anyone who holds a Certificate of Competency as a Powderman or an Explosive Users Permit must be in possession of a WorkCover Unsupervised Handling Licence and a Blasting Explosive Users Licence to possess, store, manufacture, transport or purchase explosives for their own use. All inquiries regarding Licensing can be directed to the WorkCover Assistance Service on 13 10 50
